Remember this post! Yes! Our Meena Barot (36) made it through online votes. She was selected to carry the torch on Monday, July 7 in the Chinese city of Lanzhou in Gansu. Just a day before the relay, Barot received instructions along with the 296 runners who were to run on the day. Barot was the eleventh runner in the relay. The torchbearers were allowed to keep the torches that they ran with. She shared her experience: I did not feel the weight of the torch at all; all the enthusiasm and excitement made it feel light. Mittal invests in London Football Club QPR

Lakshmi Mittal, the richest man of United Kingdom, has bought up a 20% stake in QPR (Queen's Park Ranger) Football Club. The club did not disclose the sum paid for the stake. Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, will join Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone and Renault team boss Flavio Briatore on the club's board. QPR is located just 5.6 kilometers (3.5 miles) from Chelsea in West London. It would be very interesting to see how QPR progress to compete Chelsea, as now they have got Mittal's backing. ICL announces Twenty20 Tournament Schedule

The Indian Cricket League (ICL) has announced the schedule for its inaugural Twenty20 tournament, which will kick off with Delhi Jets taking on Chandigarh Lions on November 30. The tournament will have a round-robin format, with six teams - Delhi Jets, Chandigarh Lions, Mumbai Champs, Kolkata Tigers, Chennai Superstars and Hyderabad Heroes - vying for a place in the semi-finals. The teams which fail to make the final will compete for the third and fourth spot as well as the fifth and sixth spot. The tournament will be played at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula, a town near Chandigarh. Cricket Sledging - Australians feeling the heat now!

Indians especially seniors were never involved in sledging. Although Sourav Ganguly showed some aggression but with in a smile on his face and Waugh's subsequent irritation and complaints were the reaction of a man. Apart from talent and Dad's army(average of 30 years), sledging had always been the mantra of Aussie's success. In spite of getting some witty replies in the past they never changed themselves and always been in front to wind up the opposition by all possible means including swearing and personal remarks. But in this series(Aussie's in India, 2007) they are getting frustrated and annoyed on being at the receiving end of sledging. Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand crowned as the new World chess champion with a short 20-move draw against Peter Leko of Hungary in the 14th and final round of the Championships in Mexico City on last night. Vishwanathan Anand was born in Madras, India the 11th of December of 1969; he obtained the GM title at the age of 16 years. In 1987 he was the World Juvenile Champion in Philippines.
