Finally! Lux Cozy and Amul Macho underwear ads banned
July 26th, 2007

Der Aaye, Durust Aaye….

I was waiting for this news (banned). Don’t know why shiv-sainiks didn’t do any dharna or something to protest against the “chaddi” ads on TV.

Well now the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has banned television advertisements of two underwear brands. The Ministry has found advertisements of Lux Cozy/Cozi Underwear and Amul Macho Underwear inappropriate and both have been prohibited for transmission or retransmission on all broadcasting platforms with immediate effect.

Channels have been told that they have to strictly adhere to the Advertisement Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and Rules framed under it, in order not to invite further action under the Act.

The two advertisements in question were cleared by the Advertising Standards Council of India, the self-regulatory body of the advertising industry.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the programmes telecast by the channel were “against good taste and decency and denigrated women”.

I reckon the Lux Cozi underwear ad is OK, there’s nothing “so” bad in it. But the Amul Macho ad is really pathetic and sickening.

What do you say Amul or Lux….?
