February 23rd, 2010

Gauhar Khan’s claim to fame was her famous wardrobe malfunction on ramp when the zipper on her skirt ripped on the runway, and she ended up exposing her bum cheeks. The fame didn’t go in vain and she got chance to participate in a reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Sony. Although she worked very hard, and was the genuine contender for trophy but lost it against the admired footballer, the captain of Indian team, Baichung Bhutia.

The glamorous girl is slowly and steadily making her presence felt, with the brilliant performance in Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year. She proved her acting talent, and now has been chosen by the Queen of TV Industry, Ekta kapoor as new-age Helen to dance on the popular cabaret number "Piya tu ab to aaja" in her upcoming movie "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai". The movie starrng Ajay Devgan in lead role, is being directed by Milan Luthria and the story is all about Mumbai’s underworld in 1970.

Gauhar Khan’s “Piya tu ab to aaja“ is being choregraphed by Raju Khan, and is said to be the most expensive cabaret ever shot in Bollywood. Gauhar danced to the beats of "Piya tu ab to aaja" so hard that a piece of shattered glass wounded her leg.

The hyped cabaret number and new version of Helen will be publicized at an elaborate press conference later this month. Video release will decide the fate of Gauhar, if she can really carry the tag of new-age Helen.

Pritam Chakraborty, who has given music to the new “piya tu ab to aaja”, says he hasn’t done a straight-off remix but just used few bits of RD’s ‘Piya to ab to aaja’ from ‘Caravan’ and ‘Duniya mein logon ko’ from ‘Apna Desh’ to his original composition. Pritam has to understand and admit that any kind of tampering with the old song is a Remix, and there is no as such thing as straight-off remix, full-remix or half-remix.

REMIX is a REMIX… No if’s and No but’s!!
