{"id":78,"date":"2007-03-02T15:29:00","date_gmt":"2007-03-02T15:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sheetudeep.com\/blogs\/?p=78"},"modified":"2010-03-23T22:18:26","modified_gmt":"2010-03-23T22:18:26","slug":"shawarma-arabian-dish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sheetudeep.com\/blog\/lifestyle\/recipes\/shawarma-arabian-dish\/","title":{"rendered":"Shawarma &#8211; Arabian Dish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4 chicken breasts<br \/>\n4 pita bread<br \/>\n4 tbsps olive oil<br \/>\nSalt to taste For yogurt sauce<br \/>\n1 cup yogurt<br \/>\nSalt to taste<br \/>\n4 cloves garlic, ground<br \/>\n2 tbsps lemon juice<br \/>\n1 sprig fresh parsley<br \/>\nFor salad<br \/>\n1 medium onion, sliced<br \/>\n1 medium tomato, sliced<br \/>\n2 jalapenos, sliced<br \/>\nSalt to taste<br \/>\n2 tbsps tahina<br \/>\n3 tbsps yogurt<br \/>\n6-8 fresh mint leaves, hand torn<\/p>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 200\u00c2\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>Slit chicken breasts lengthwise without cutting through. Dribble olive oil over them, sprinkle salt and fold the pieces. Thread these pieces onto a skewer.  Keep the skewer on the rack. Place rack in the preheated oven.<\/p>\n<p>Add salt, garlic paste to yogurt and whisk well.  Add lemon juice and mix.<\/p>\n<p>Put this mixture over a muslin cloth kept over a bowl, gather the edges and squeeze tight for smooth yogurt sauce. Garnish with a sprig of parsley.  Keep aside.<\/p>\n<p>Once the chicken is cooked, remove from oven and cut into fine shreds keeping it on the skewer itself.<\/p>\n<p>Toast pita breads lightly. Slit them open to form a pocket.<\/p>\n<p>Mix onion, tomato, jalapenos, salt, tahina, yogurt and mint leaves to form a salad.<\/p>\n<p>Stuff the pita pocket with some shredded chicken mixture and  top with onion tomato salad.
