Karan:<\/strong> Firstly, congratulations on the super success of your film\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I know a large section of the industry was surprised, but were you expecting  this kind of success?
Himesh:<\/strong> I think, I just believed in God, destiny and somewhere I think everyone just prayed for me and that is something that worked for me.

Karan:<\/strong> By everyone, you mean who, large sections of the industry were not praying for you\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
Himesh:<\/strong> No, no\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 only that 1 %\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 people just felt that this cannot happen, a singer not a very good looking guy.

Karan:<\/strong> Not conventional looking not hero material?
Himesh:<\/strong> I think you are being nice to me\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but, it was something that was unprecedented\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 when the film started, people did say, paagal ho gaya hai<\/em>. I understand. But, when actually the film was declared a hit\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 then, people realized.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> But, of course there were audiences, who were swinging to your music, at nightclubs, at weddings, but, there was so much criticism that came your way\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 from sections of the industry and I knew that\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 it would anger you\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because I could feel that when I saw you at award ceremonies\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 what do you have to say about that kind of criticism\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 people spoke about your nasal twang\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
Himesh:<\/strong> The first year, I really didn’t feel that I need to defend\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 when my first song Aashique Banaya<\/em> came\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 they said ‘nasal’ and I said ‘high pitch’\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and I think they got angry because of that\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because I said, ‘nahi<\/em>, high pitch hai\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 main<\/em> high pitch mein gaata hoon\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 main<\/em> nasal nahi gaata hoon<\/em>“. I should have accepted that, ‘Theek hain yaar\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 naak se gaata hoon<\/em>“. For the first year, I really tried to defend\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I don’t know, why? I don’t think they were really against me\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 they wanted me to accept that, “I am a nasal singer”.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> You were trying to defend your talent?
Himesh:<\/strong> Not my talent\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but, why are you calling me nasal, and why are you not calling the other singers nasal, who are nasal.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> What kind of singers are nasal?
Himesh:<\/strong> Ahhhhh\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Saigal saab<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Then, I said something about RD Burman saab<\/em>, when Ashaji<\/em> got\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Himesh:<\/strong> Ahhh\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Honestly, in the first year\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 all my songs were becoming huge hits\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but somewhere woh criticism bina wajeh aa raha tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 yeh mujhe us waqt lagta tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 ab jab main<\/em> \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 when I look back\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I feel that they had a point\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 this film also has got so much of criticism from the critics\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but, it has done well at the box office\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 so that 1 %, I really want to win them over<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> What about fraternity jealousy\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 like other singers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 there was once I heard that lots of singers are not singing because Himesh Reshamiya is singing his own songs\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 he is not employing other singers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 that’s why they are resenting you\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because they are out of work\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6
Himesh:<\/strong> No, when I started singing\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 they really started getting more work\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because I started accepting films in just about 6-8 months\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I left 16-18 films\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and I am not doing outside films\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I am just doing 3 films a year\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and for the Producer and Director who sign me as an actor.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> But you stopped using other male singers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 you were singing.
Himesh:<\/strong> No\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I used Rahat Fateh Ali Khan saab, Zubin \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and all of them\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I have been using a lot of male singers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 the only thing is that there may have been some kind of jealousy\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because they felt that they are more talented than me.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> Do you think, they are more talented that you?
Himesh:<\/strong> 100% \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 ya\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 ya\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 of course\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I have achieved just because of luck, God and the blessing of lakhs and crores of people\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I have not achieved it because of talent\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 talent and destiny is something\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 this is what I believe\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 that everything has some divine force\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 some source\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 some blessing\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and then you start creating good stuff\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and then the point of view of everyone changes and they accept you, that ok theek hain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 yeh hit hain<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> There were particular people, who were somehow targeting you\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 is there any one kind of person that you felt resentment towards?
Himesh<\/strong>: No\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I really did not feel resentment towards anyone\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because when you try something which is unprecedented\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 then people are going to\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 till you prove it\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and when this film was releasing\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and it was declared that is a hit\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 so many people called me and said, “very good”\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 congratulated me\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and they said, that they felt it wouldn’t work\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 so, its just that I was doing something new\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 something different\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 and it takes a little time to accept something that is unconventional\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> You don’t harbour any kind of negativity for people?
Himesh:<\/strong> No\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 No\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I really don’t\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because I understand that from their point of view\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 if I would have been in their place.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> You would have said the same?
Himesh:<\/strong> Because from here, I will say\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 “Yeh kaise ho sakta hain.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> Would you at all say that you wanted to win the class audience\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 in terms of the class film makers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 because you worked with a lot mainstream people\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but, the bigger banners eluded you?
Himesh:<\/strong> Bigger banners\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 maine<\/em> try kiya<\/em> Karan\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 unko<\/em> phone bhi kiye\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 maine apko kitne<\/em> phone kiye<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 Please aap mujhe ek baar<\/em> chance di jiye aapke<\/em> film mein kaam karne ka<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but, main yeh samajh raha tha.. main us waqt<\/em> 30-35 films kar raha tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 toh woh jo teen chaar bahut hi<\/em> top ke<\/em> banners hain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 jo bahut<\/em> exclusive stuff karte hain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 unke liye bahut<\/em> odd tha mujhe lena\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 main ye samajh tha ta.. par phir bhi main apni taraf se koshish kar raha tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 jab waha pe mujhe nahi mauka mil tha tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 aur yaha par yeh log mujhe kaam de rahe the\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 to main unko kaise bhool sakta tha.<\/em><\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> You stood by those people?
Himesh:<\/strong> Yes\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 100% aur rahoonga\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 kyuni, woh log mujhe kaam de rahein hain\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 aur mujhe apna<\/em> talent dikhane ka mauka inhi logo ne diya<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> Correct.
Himesh:<\/strong> Chote se chote<\/em> makeron ka main bahut aabhari hoon\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 us waqt unhone meri<\/em> believe ki\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 main jo kuch bhi aaj hoon<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Himesh:<\/strong> Yes\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> But, do you feel that you want to get that class?
Himesh:<\/strong> Always\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 that 1%<\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> That 1% that you are not getting?
Himesh:<\/strong> Yes\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I want to and I will\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 aur mujhe pata nahi\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 aise lagta hain ki bhagwan sun lega aur woh 1% bhi mere saath aa jayega.<\/em><\/p>\n

Karan:<\/strong> What about your alleged problem with someone like a talented singer like Sonu Nigam\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 What happened there?
Himesh:<\/strong> Sonu ke saath<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 always\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 I always said that\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 he is the best singer of India\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 aur hamesha maine yeh baat kahin hain<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 media main ek<\/em> report aayi thi\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 ki maine aisa kaha hain ki<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 “Who is Sonu Nigam?”\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 jo maine nahi kaha tha\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 <\/em><\/p>\n
