Milkha Singh did not handed his life story for free to filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, he charged him a huge amount of money which Mehra have had never paid and will never pay to anyone in his life. The amount is rupee one….shocking isn’t it, but it’s true.

Milkha has his reasons for turning down the eight-figure sum offered to him. He said if ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ were to become a hit like ‘Rang De Basanti’, inspire our young people and result in India’s first Olympic track gold, that’s reward enough for me.
The Flying Sikh says, "This is the year of the Commonwealth Games. I feel sad to say that 52 years after I won gold in the Cardiff Games, India hasn’t been able to win a gold in track events."

Milkha is counting on Mehra’s biopic to inspire India’s youth with the story of an unassuming athlete who fought mind-numbing hardship and personal loss to win universal acclaim through sheer grit and determination.

Buzz is that it could be ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar, the sportiest of our heroes and Deepika Padukone with her special badminton genes, playing the female lead.

Milkha Singh – Born in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan) in 1935, Milkha was a battle-hardened soul even before he let go of his childhood. As a 12-year-old during Partition, he was witness to the spine-chilling sight of his parents being butchered in front of his eyes. A few sobs later, his heart was in his mouth as he escaped the clutches of death, concealing himself among corpses on the train to India.

Recovery wasn’t easy but Milkha conquered the odds and before long, had won the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games gold in 1958 and famously lost the 400m bronze in the Rome Olympics by the proverbial coat of paint.

"I want Indian youth to understand what determination and purpose can achieve. If a Milkha, who didn’t have access to even basic necessities of life, can aim for the skies, why not others who’ve been provided the best of facilities?" he asks.

Priyanka Chopra received National Award on Friday

Priyanka Chopra looked stunning in a white sari as she received the National Award for best actress on Friday.

President Pratibha Patil on Friday conferred the 56th National Film Awards for 2008 to the illustrious winners in a glittering function held at Vigyan Bhavan. Eminent cinematographer V.K. Murthy received a standing ovation and thunderous applause when the President decorated him with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2008. Murthy, who shot India’s first cinemascope movie Kagaz Ke Phool, is the first cinematographer to get the award since its inception in 1969. A total of 130 awardees in 69 categories received medals and citations from the President.

For the first time the National Awards ceremony was hosted by film personalities Divya Dutta and Ashutosh Rana. The live rendition of Hariharan’s award-winning song in the Marathi film Jogva — Jeev Dangla Gungla Rangla; and Bonnie Chakravorty’s performance of the best choreographed award-winning song of Jodhaa Akbar — Azeem-o-shaan Shahenshah — enthralled the audience.

Congratulating the winners, President Patil noted that every Indian was proud of the international acclaim, awards and growing interest in Indian cinema across the world. “Cinema needs to be continuously nurtured, as a part of our efforts to not only excel in filmmaking, but also to use it as a medium to give expression to the importance of a humane approach in life,”. she said “Our film industry can play a part in bringing a progressive and fast developing India, anchored in thousands of years of a rich civilisation, to the minds of viewers,” the President added. Taking note of the best child artiste award to Master Shams Patel, the President expressed the hope this award would make more people aware of the plight of street children.

For Priyanka Chopra it was double celebration as her dad’s music album releases on Saturday.
She said, "My entire family including parents and my grandparents were here for the National Awards ceremony. It’s was a big moment for me and I wanted my entire family to be part of it. On Saturday, my father’s music album releases. So the family has double reason to be together,"

PC’s stars are in her favour this year, she is having a rocking 2010. She is thrashing everyone – everywhere, be it on twitter or in the Twitter head quarters, getting a National Award, bagging the Fear Factor season 3 and now she is going to have blast with seven different husbands in her forthcoming movie Saat Khoon Maaf.

Special thing about this movie is she gets to romance industry’s best actor and his son. Yes, Naseeruddin Shah and his younger son Vivaan have been signed for Saat Khoon Maaf. Also Vivaan will make his Bollywood debut opposite Priyanka Chopra with this movie. PC will have seven husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf, where Naseeruddin Shah play oldest husband and his 20 year old son Vivaan will play the youngest one.

The Vishal Bhardwaj film is an unusual drama of passion and polyandry. Shooting is currently on at Coorg, and Priyanka will join the unit from Delhi after receiving the National award from President Pratibha Patil on friday. Vivaan was chosen by Vishal after he happened to see the boy and found him just right for the role. Vivaan had no plans of a career in acting at this stage and age. Though casting both father and son as Priyanka’s husbands does appear rather audacious, Vishal seems convinced about it.

Earlier, Neil Nitin Mukesh had confirmed that he has been signed to play the youngest husband in the film. Meanwhile, Vishal is rethinking the title Saat Khoon Maaf. He had earlier titled the film Ek Batta Saat before choosing Saat Khoon Maaf, but now is wondering whether he should change it to something more appropriate.

The final list of Priyanka’s husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf (the title may be revised again) is:
Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anu Kapoor, an undisclosed Russian actor and Vivaan Shah.

Kevin Pietersen is a Male Chauvinist Pig – Diana Edulji

England’s Kevin Pietersen playing for Royal Challengers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) is under attack from our bold and beautiful cricket Ladies.

Former Indian cricketer Diana Edulji called him a MCP (Male Chauvinist Pig). Diana also said that Kevin had obviously not seen the way the English girls play and termed him a "snooty character". She added "There is a lot of aggression when women play, there is sledging especially when we play England and Australia.

Why he’s a Pig…? He said ‘it’s a man’s game, not a game for girls’…referring to cricket. His statement didn’t go down well with our women cricketers.

Kevin was defending England’s aggressive approach in the first Test against Bangladesh, by claiming that cricket is a man’s game. Graeme Swann became the first England off spinner to take ten wickets in a Test since Jim Laker in 1956, but his achievement was laced with controversy after his gratuitous outburst against Junaid Siddique. The Bangladeshi batsman completed his maiden Test hundred before Swann struck to swing the match in England’s favour. But on dismissing Siddique, Swann raised his middle finger and roared "fuck off", he later apologised for his behaviour.

Stuart Broad also attracted censure for racing the full length of the pitch in a successful search of an lbw decision against Abdur Razzak.

However supporting the foul actions of his players, Pietersen was adamant that England must continue to stand up for themselves. "It’s a man’s game this, it’s not a game for girls – especially when you’re playing Test match cricket," he said. "I was christened in international cricket and believe me I got a lot worse in my first Ashes series against those Australians than anything we’ve chucked at the Bangladeshis out here.

Now can somebody please remind Kevin that, the England’s women’s team won the Women’s World Cup in 2009.

5 bidders for 2 new IPL teams

Once again the process of owning the two new IPL teams has started, two weeks after the tender process was cancelled due to poor response.

Five bidders had lined up by 5pm on Friday, the cut-off time for submission of bids, to qualify for the auction which will take place on Sunday morning. The bids will be opened in Chennai on Sunday morning and by the afternoon, the winners will be announced. The new owners will join the IPL bandwagon in the 2011 season.

The interested parties who had submitted the pre-qualification demand draft of Rs 46 crore – were Videocon, Sahara India, the Adani Group and a Pune consortium of Cyrus Poonawala and Ajay Shirke. Some of these corporate may be participating through other holding companies.

A BCCI official said:

“We have received deposits from five bidders. The name of the fifth bidder could not be confirmed, but there was speculation that it was infrastructure player Jaypee Group. In all, 13 entities had purchased bid documents.”

Now let’s see who are the 2 new owners to join the IPL league?

Predators trailer – Watch the video

From the studio that gave us Sin City, comes the fifth film in the Predator franchise. There’s no Arnold Schwarzenegger (Predator) or Danny Glover (Predator 2), but there is Laurence Fishburne and Adrien Brody looking very scared in new Predator.

The gist of the plot is that a group of criminals have been abducted by the Predators and beamed onto a lush-green planet far out in space. It’s essentially the thermal-vision-loving hunters’ game reserve – and it’s humans that are the game.

They will not only be scrapping with the Predators we’ve become familiar with from previous films, but also an ‘updated, nastier, meaner breed’ according to producer Robert Rodriguez. So standby for lead and lasers flying in all directions!

The movie hits theatres this July.

PETA wants Sex.com

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation are a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA is also famous for their sexy and saucy vegetarian ads.

PETA has announced their desire to acquire sex.com, which is on sale right now. Executive Vice President has written this letter to Dom Partners LLC stating:

“Visitors to the newly revamped Sex.com site could watch our sexy Super Bowl ads like “Veggie Love” (about how a vegan diet can enhance your time between the sheets) or watch Alicia Silverstone’s naked testimonial—living proof that a vegan diet does a body good.

They could gaze on sultry ads featuring gorgeous vegetarians, like Pamela Anderson and Owain Yeoman, or join the action and participate in one of our Sexiest Vegetarian contests. They could also read about the many vegan foods that are natural aphrodisiacs.”

History of Sex.com

The Internet domain name sex.com is a web portal owned by Escom LLC. It was the focus of one of the most publicized legal actions about ownership of domain names.

In 1994, entrepreneur Gary Kremen (then founder of Match.com) registered sex.com with Network Solutions. In October 1995, Network Solutions transferred the domain to Stephen M. Cohen, who had been trying to gain control of the domain for some time by misrepresentation, using phone calls, e-mails and forged letters. He eventually persuaded an employee of Network Solutions to change the ownership details by submitting a fake fax. After gaining control of the domain, Cohen produced an advertising-heavy site that received up to 25 million hits a day. From payments for click-through and other advertising, Cohen was reportedly making $50,000 to $500,000 per month.

Meanwhile Gary Kremen undertook steps to recover the domain, while Cohen claimed he obtained the domain legally from Online Classifieds (OCI). A five-year legal battle brought Kremen victory in November 2000, when Network Solutions was ordered to return the domain to the claimant. Cohen was also ordered to pay $25 million into court; in April 2001, the California District Court awarded Kremen an additional $40 million for lost earnings, for a total judgment of $65 million.

Cohen appealed the judgment and refused to allow assessment of his business. He provided false information and declared most of his companies bankrupt while illegally moving assets out of US jurisdiction. When an arrest warrant was issued, Cohen fled to Mexico. Kremen offered a $50,000 reward for information, but Cohen remained at large while continuing to file appeals that were rejected. In October 2005, Cohen was arrested in Tijuana, Mexico for immigration violations, and was handed over to US authorities.

Cohen was released from custody on December 5, 2006, when Judge Ware determined that "the Court is satisfied that Cohen has provided an accounting of assets to the extent that he is able from jail." Cohen currently is representing himself and provided the Court with an address in Mazatlan, Mexico.

Sex.com was reported sold to Escom LLC in January 2006. At a reported $14 million price, the domain name has widely been cited as the highest priced domain sale.

As of February 18th,2010, the domain name has been ordered to be sold at a foreclosure auction.

As of March 18th, 2010, in a last minute twist to the story, the foreclosure auction looked likely to be cancelled as Creditors of Escom, LLC filed an involuntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition against Escom in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California (San Fernando Valley Division). This action was taken by creditors to prevent a possible loss of value by selling the name as a foreclosure auction.

Priyanka Chopra host of Fear Factor season 3

So far we all saw 13 haseenayein with ek khiladi Akshay Kumar making impossible possible on Fear Factor. Khatron ke khiladi season 3 comes with a twist, 13 cricketer khiladis and ek haseena. Haseena is Priyanka Chopra, she is playing the host for third season. She will guide and goad 13 cricketers – mix of national and international, who will be at her beck and call on the show. This also marks her small screen debut. PC has got paid mega bucks and will also be performing stunts on the show.

Channel is trying hard and best to rope in some top cricketers for the show.
Channel confirmed the news, Ashvini Yardi, the programming head of the channel said, “When you combine Priyanka’s glamour, mass-appeal and athleticism with the energy and adrenaline of the cricketers, you get the perfect equation for a show like Fear Factor.

Priyanka is equally delighted to take up the challenge.

Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda split

Television’s most popular dancing unmarried couple Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh have decided to break off or take a break from their long term relationship. I think this was bound to happen as Sanjeeda is bit too much to handle for a shy boy like Aamir.

Cracks started showing up when Aamir and Sanjeeda both were approached to compete with each other for the second season of the dance show Zara Nach Ke Dikha and Aamir was reluctant to compete with his lady love. The show has a group of boys competing with a group of girls. Unlike last season, this year will have eliminations. When Aamir learnt about the eliminations and realised that he and Sanjeeda would be pitted against each other, he told her that only one of them should participate. However, Sanjeeda flatly refused and they ended up having a tiff.

News is that both of them have signed the contract for the show individually, problems only increased as a sense of competition erupted between Aamir and Sanjeeda.

This show is famous for breaking relationships. This isn’t the first couple to have serious issues cropping up in their relationship due to a sense of competition. In the earlier season, Gaurav Chopra had broken off with his long-time girlfriend Narayani Shastri and had started seeing Mouni Roy. Narayani and Mouni were co-participants in the show’s first season while Gaurav, of course, was one of the competitors from the boys’ side.

Now let’s see what happens, when Aamir and Sanjeeda come face to face or a face-off?

Hockey player Prabhjot Singh shows middle finger to the crowd

Our desi Hockey players are going western ways, following David Beckham and Craig Chappell in showing middle finger to the audience.

Prabhjot Singh, who had gone to the mixed zone to interact with the newspersons, suddenly showed his middle finger to the booing fans. Crowd booed the players after India lost to Argentina 2-4 to finish eighth in the 12-team Hockey World Cup. As the Indian players came for the post-match presentation at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, some fans started to abuse players. Minutes later, Captain Rajpal Singh and Prabhjot rushed to argue with the spectators on the other side of the fencing. Security men rushed in and brought the situation under control.

A furious Greg Chappell showed his middle finger to the Kolkata media and people when he was asked questions about his failure as a Cricket Indian Coach.

David Beckham sparked huge controversy when he flipped the middle finger at England fans after the team’s 3-2 defeat against Portugal at the Euro 2000 in Holland.
