Rumour of the Summer - Reports in Iran suggest radical Iranians Ansar Hezbollah wants to buy Manchester United. The England's Barclay Premiership 2007-2008 Season has started with a insane rumour of Iranians interest in Manchester United. The group — backers of hard-line Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — even plan to rename the football giants to Khaybar after a holy Muslim oasis. Evans Thomas Wins "Nike Talent Hunt Project" To Go Barcelona

Sixteen year old Evans Thomas from Ernakulam, Kerala, has won the "WHERE'S THE NEXT" Nike football contest, which was held across India in July 07. Evans will form part of an 11-member team from Asia that will get an exclusive opportunity to train for a week with the FC Barcelona coaches, from August 27 to September 4. The encouraging response to the call for entries saw teenagers from across the country, in the age group of 15 to 17 years, posting one-minute videos that displayed their football skills on www.nikefootball.in website. The world's most famous Football club Manchester United have signed a gifted nine-year-old boy after his grandfather sent the Premier League champions a DVD showcasing the boy's talents which has become a YouTube sensation.The boy's dribbling and goalscoring prowess for an Under-10 side in Brisbane, Australia, feature in a four-minute YouTube clip is already viewed by more than 800,000 times. Indian Football Team Unbeaten in Portugal Tour

The Indian football team held Portuguese third division team GDR Monsanto goalless in their last outing and finished unbeaten on their tour of Portugal. The draw was significant as star striker Baichung Bhutia, who scored four goals in the last two games, did not take the field due to a minor injury. Besides, India played most of the match without striker Sunil Chetri, who was substituted in the first half. In the opening match of the tour, India drew with Portuguese second division side Odivelas FC 1-1 and then registered a 3-2 victory over Portugese third division side AC Marinhense, followed by convincing 3-0 victory over third division side Recreativo Agueda at the Estadio Municipal in Lisbon on Sunday.

Brazil Back to No 1 in FIFA Rankings

Brazil's ruthless victory (3-0) against old rivals Argentina to win the Copa America for the second time in a row, has helped moved them back to the top of FIFA's world rankings. Argentina also moved up to 2nd place, with World Cup Champions Italy slipping to 3rd place. Brazil were knocked off top spot in January, having previously led the rankings for an uninterrupted run of more than four years.
