A four-storeyed building collapsed in Surat yesterday, but there were no casualties as the fire brigade had evacuated the occupants in time. Occupants of Firdosh Guest House, in Kamela Darwaja area, had found building had tilted in the morning. The shopkeepers tried to open the shutter of their shops but were unable to lift it. They informed the fire brigade and vacated the building. Official say the two huge hoardings on top of the building may have caused the collapse. Professor GV Loganathan An Indian-born man was among those killed in the shooting at a US university which left 33 people dead, Professor GV Loganathan was teaching at Virginia Tech when a gunman went on the rampage on Monday. Prof Loganathan, 57, came from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
